Report on Coastlines and Climate Change presented at G7 Scientists from French institutes conducted a review on the impact of climate change on coastal areas and on policies to adapt. It is included in "Territoires Océan: Acteurs de solutions”, a document presented to President Emmanuel Macron at the G7 in Biarritz last August. Ocean regions like New Aquitaine could mitigate flooding and erosion by restoring and preserving coastal ecosystems, the review underlines.

Land Use Planning as pillar for delta planning in Kenya The Land Use Plan for the Tana River Delta guides the involvement of all stakeholders in this Kenyan Delta. On the 8th of July, the planning for Yala Delta reached a climax when the Governor of Siaya County in Western Kenya signed the Yala Delta Land Use Plan and Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment.

Dissertation abstract from Y. Budiyono on Flood risk modeling in Jakarta: development and usefulness in a time of climate change Yus Budiyono graduated in November 2018 at the VU Amsterdam University. In his Thesis, a flood risk model for rapidly assessing flood risk in Jakarta has been set up using information on hazard, exposure and vulnerability, namely 'Damagescanner-Jakarta'. In the model, hazard is represented by inundation maps showing the flood extent and depth for floods with different probabilities and of different severity.

Signing ceremony Joint Cooperation Programme Bangladesh - the Netherlands The signing ceremony of the Joint Cooperation Programme between Bangladesh and the Netherlands took place on 18 June 2019. This four-year programme, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is set up amongst the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), Wageningen University and Research (WUR) and Deltares. It is aimed at developing and initiating long term knowledge sharing and capacity building amongst these institutes in the fields of integrated water resources management and adaptive planning.

TU Delft cooperates with Vietnam in training water professionals Over the next three years, TU Delft will support Vietnam in training water management professionals. The ‘Climate Proof Vietnam’ programme was officially launched on 10 April in Hanoi. To this end, Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (I&W), together with her Vietnamese colleague Deputy Minister Vo Tuan Nhan, launched a Delft underwater drone for water quality testing in a lake in Hanoi.
