DeltaCompetition challenges students to craft solutions for climate change adaptation in the world’s delta cities The worldwide DeltaCompetition is open for submissions. Students are invited to formulate creative solutions for adapting the delta cities of the world to climate change impacts. Students have until 15 June 2010 to submit entries to the competition. Three winning entries will receive prizes of USD 3,000 and an expenses-paid trip to Rotterdam to present their work at the Deltas in Times of Climate Change conference.

Call for abstracts for Conference 'Deltas in Times of Climate Change' The two official Dutch research programmes on climate change and spatial planning (Climate changes Spatial Planning and Knowledge for Climate), the City of Rotterdam and the C40 (a group of the world’s largest cities committed to tackling climate change) invite scientists, politicians, policy-makers and practitioners to share their knowledge and experience in a major international conference on climate adaptation. Delta Alliance is organizing a number of sessions including a showcase of examples of successful cooperation between river delta regions.

Rapport: in VS is gebrek aan know-how in waterbeheer (In Dutch) Nederlandse en Amerikaanse waterdeskundigen waarschuwen dat in de VS onvoldoende kennis is om gevolgen van een stijgende zeespiegel, vooral in de kustgebieden rondom de San Francisco Bay, op te vangen. Voor de technische analyse van onder andere waterstanden en golfhoogten heeft de Delta Alliance gebruik gemaakt van het in Nederland ontwikkelde hydraulische model Delft3D.
