Comparative overview of deltas. Towards more resilient and sustainable deltas As an initial project of the Delta Alliance network a comparison of seven of the world’s deltas is being performed. This study compares physical, ecological and socio-economic impacts and adaptive response measures regarding the most affected sectors.

Kick-off workshop Delta Alliance Brazilian Wing (August 30, 2010) On Monday August 30, 2010, the kick-off meeting of Delta Alliance Brazilian Wing took place In Brasilia. The morning was dedicated to a mutual acquaintance of the Delta Alliance and Brazilian partners by means of presentations. In the afternoon the partners discussed the possibilities to include the Pantanal (as an inland delta) into the Delta Alliance.

Press Release: DeltaCompetition attracts innovative and diverse ideas for climate adaptation from students around the world The worldwide DeltaCompetition challenged students to formulate creative solutions for adapting the delta cities of the world to climate change impacts. The competition, run by Royal Haskoning, Delta Alliance and the City of Rotterdam, received 24 unique submissions from 11 countries on 5 continents. Winners will be announced at the beginning of September; three winning teams will receive prizes of USD 3,000 and an expenses-paid trip to Rotterdam to present their work at the Deltas in Times of Climate Change conference, 29 September – 1 October 2010

Delta Alliance Mission confirmed during World Estuary Alliance Conference During the World Estuary Alliance Conference, Delta Alliance hosted a strategy session on June 7 to define its mission and further strategy. With input from people working in deltas around the world, a mission for Delta Alliance was confirmed: to improve the resilience of deltas worldwide. To support this ambitious mission the Delta Alliance Resilience Strategy has been created, which provides a framework for network activities.

Delta Alliance Dutch Wing Workshop On April 22, 2010 the Dutch wing organized a kick-off workshop under Delta Alliance. Representatives from various organizations were attending the workshop. After an introduction of Delta Alliance the workshop participants could give their opinion about the development of the international network during an Electronic Board Room Session.

Adaptation Methods and Tools Workshop, Bandung On 8 and 9 March, 2010 the workshop "Methods and tools for water-related adaptation to climate change and climate proofing" took place at Puslitbang Air in Bandung, Indonesia. Part of this workshop was meant to kick-off the organization of the scoping workshop of the Delta Alliance Indonesia Wing.
