On Monday August 30, 2010, the kick-off meeting of Delta Alliance Brazilian Wing took place In Brasilia. The venue of the meeting was the head office of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa). Delegates from Embrapa, the Federal University of Mato Grosso, the State University of Mato Grosso and WWF were present. The morning was dedicated to a mutual acquaintance of the Delta Alliance and Brazilian partners by means of presentations. In the afternoon the partners discussed the possibilities to include the Pantanal (as an inland delta) into the Delta Alliance.

As a follow up of the meeting, a second one will be organized by Embrapa, including more relevant stakeholders and focussing on the kind of issues to be developed.
