Delta Futures Lab webinar
The likelihood of an acceleration based on tide-gauge data by David Steffelbauer

In the decade to come, the question whether the Netherlands should take more drastic adaptation actions to respond to sea level rise will dominate discussions. Sea level monitoring data can provide important input to these discussions to complement the results of predictive models. David Steffelbauer presents a method to evaluate the data of tide gauges along the Dutch coast to detect the presence of breakpoints that represent the start of an acceleration of sea level rise. The method combines a variety of data analysis techniques. The authors advise to involve multiple organisations in order to strengthen the basis of trust in the scientific contributions to the national debate.
