Publication: Adaptive delta management: a comparison between The Netherlands and Bangladesh Delta Program

This publications describes the delta plans that are developed in the Netherlands and Bangladesh to address current and future water related challenges, using an adaptive delta management approach. Important features are the involvement of multiple stakeholders in a joint decision-making process to enhanceownership, legitimacy and feasibility; to take a risk-based perspective; to adopt a flexibleapproach in possible strategies by valuing flexibility with regard to the timing of implementation and to interlink various investment agendas and looking for opportunities for mainstreaming planned investments. The article also indicate challenges when using the approach in different contexts.
