Delta Alliance workshop held about land subsidence in delta cities of northern Java

On 27th November 2019, the Delta Alliance Indonesia Wing (DAIW) has held a workshop in Geostech of the Science and Technology Research Center (Puspiptek) Serpong, Jakarta subsurb. The workshop entitled “Land subsidence in delta cities of northern Java” was jointly organised with the Centre of the Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction (PTRRB), Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT). Several other partners and key institutions in the workshop includes the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Research and Development Center for Water Resources (PusAir), the Groundwater Conservation Agency (BKAT), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Deltares, and local government of Semarang.

The workshop served purpose to strengthen research on land subsidence in northern Java and the disseminations on present policies at national and local levels. The workshop was attended by local governments of Northern Java starting from Banten in the west and Surabaya in the east. Despite the theme focused on Java, the committee also recorded responses from participants outside of Java.

The workshop is jointly funded by Delta Alliance seed fund 2019. The final program of the workshop can be found here.
