The day before the start of the Rotterdam Deltas in Times of Climate Change conference, a group came together at the Zeetoren in Hoek van Holland to describe the type of organization Delta Alliance should become. The group included people from Vietnam, Indonesia, China, USA, Netherlands, and Bangladesh who are helping to establish the Delta Alliance network in these locations.

Through a lively workshop the group agreed that Delta Alliance must be an organization with a long-term orientation, shared ownership, and a focus on cooperation, 2-way knowledge exchange, and shared visions. The group emphasized that shared projects would help to give content to the network as well as strengthening the ties between network members, and several ideas for projects were discussed.

Workshop participants created cartoons of Delta Alliance as a superhero to envision the qualities that the organization should work to develop. Artist Ron Schuijt took inspiration from these cartoons to create the first episode of Delta Man!
