Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation (GCECA)

   The GCECA is working to build excellence in order to accelerate progress on climate adaptation, by convening groups of stakeholders worldwide and supporting projects that can increase or measure the impact of actions. It bridges various domains and engages with stakeholders from national, regional and local governments, NGOs, multilateral organisations, businesses, financial parties and knowledge institutions.

GCECA will develop its activities and services in the coming months, in close cooperation with stakeholders around the world. Its official launch has taken place at COP23 in Bonn, Germany, on 14 November 2017.

The Delta Alliance is partner and member of the Preparatory Group.

  • Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation, flyer available The GCECA welcomes end-users, donors, partners, and dialogue with initiatives and organisations to partner and complement work undertaken by others. The Centre is part of a large international network working together with partner organisations a.o. the Delta Alliance and will be launched at COP23 in Bonn in November 2017. Read more in the flyer.

  • Initiative to develop a Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation in the Netherlands The Netherlands, Japan and UN Environment will lead the establishment of a Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation in The Netherlands. The Centre will address the growing need for support among countries, institutions and businesses for dealing with climate change adaptation issues, such as natural disasters and economic disruptions.
    The Delta Alliance is involved in the establishment of this Global Centre of Excellence on Climate Adaptation. The statement of intent has been signed by Renske Peters, as director of the Delta Alliance Internatioal, to support the development and to engange other potential partners in the development of the Centre.
