Coastal wetlands of China In this special issue, we synthesize current understanding of environmental changes and human impacts on China’ coastal wetlands, focusing on reclamation. For some of those impacts, new models and indices are developed or applied. We also outline key research areas that should be further studied for effective management of coastal wetlands and successful wetland restoration. Special issue ‘Coastal Wetlands of China’ has been published in Wetlands, Editors are Prof. Baoshan Cui and some other key personnel involved in the 973 project (Springer publishers)

Round table session held on Delta Approach In this round table sessions representatives of Dutch government, private sector and knowledge institutes discussed 'The Delta Approach'. The central question was: "To which extend can generic steps and tools be identified to increase the resilience of deltas?" Outcomes can be found in this report. Outcomes of this session will be shared and discussed during the Adaptation Futures conference in Rotterdam (May 10-13, 2016).

A plea for putting the issue of Urbanizing Deltas on the New Urban Agenda The UN conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), will take place in Quito, Ecuador in the week of 17 October 2016. The objective of this conference is to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable urban development, assess accomplishments to date, address poverty and identify and address new and emerging urban challenges. It gives the opportunity to discuss the new Urban Agenda. The preparatory activities in committees and policy units are under way toward an agreement. The focus of Habitat III will be to reinvigorate the global commitment to the sustainable development of towns, cities and other human settlements. The Dutch government is actively participating in the preparatory process to the conference in Quito. The Dutch government together with other delta countries around the world strives to address specific attention on the international urban agenda for rapid urbanization of delta’s and the serious impact. Upon request of the Dutch government, Delta Alliance and Delft University of Technology prepared a paper for input in the Habitat III preparation process. The paper from Han Meyer and Renske Peters is a plea for putting the issue of Urbanizing Deltas on this New Urban Agenda.

Workshop 'Urban-Environmental Scenarios for Lower Parana Delta' Workshop held on 24 April 2015 to create an environment for stakeholder participation through scenario development and joint fact finding, in order to improve the level of integration of the spatial planning context. The activities were focused on the Lower Parana Delta.

Delta Alliance Poll results, a summary Delta Alliance has been active since 2010 as an international knowledge-driven network organization with the mission of improving the resilience of the world’s deltas. The International Secretariat of the Delta Alliance seeks to strengthen the Delta Alliance’s function as a knowledge platform and facilitator of collaboration between deltas, particularly between its member deltas, the Wings. An online poll was designed to assist in this.
