Deltas in Times of Climate Change Conference Rotterdam (September 29 - October 1, 2010)

This major international conference provides a powerful opportunity for exchanging information on how climate change is impacting river deltas and how deltas are responding, as well as to create and strengthen partnerships between delta regions and organizations.

Two days of the conference will be dedicated to science, one day to policy issues and international cooperation between Delta institutions. The conference pursues three main goals:

  • exchange of up-to-date top science on climate change and delta planning
  • strengthening of international cooperation between deltas and delta cities
  • exploring and strengthening the links between science, policy and practitioners at international level

Delta Alliance will host a number of sessions during the conference:

  • Delta Alliance Wings - an electronic board room all attendants will contribute to identifying promising joint project opportunities in the field of delta research and development under climate change.
  • Showcasing Inter-Delta Cooperation - examples of successful cooperation between river delta regions around the world will provide the base for an interactive session on identifying key factors and potential for improved cooperation between deltas internationally.
  • DeltaCompetition2010 Award Ceremony - a presentation of the winning entries to the DeltaCompetition2010 is hosted by Royal Haskoning, Delta Alliance and the City of Rotterdam and prizes will be awarded to the winning contestants.
  • Delta Alliance Launch Celebration -  representatives from river deltas around the world will announce their intention to work together on improving the resilience of river deltas worldwide in a celebration of the launch of Delta Alliance
