Building bridges across the Danube for climate change

Slovakian and Hungarian schoolchildren discovered the effects of climate change along their shared border, the River Danube, thanks to an ERDF-funded project.

Two municipalities and six primary schools in Bratislava, Slovakia and Budapest, Hungary took part in the cross-border initiative which ended with an online event on 27 January. A total of 60 people took part.

An information guide for primary schools was developed and a common teaching methodology for Slovakian and Hungarian schools was drawn up on the subject of climate .

Preparations for the project began in August 2019, followed by a first meeting between the partners in December that year.

The two participating city districts were Maďarská Újbuda in Budapest and  Petržalka in Bratislava.

The project’s total budget was EUR 560 000.
